畢業於香港大學藝術系,從事創作三十餘年,曾舉辦過個展及參加多個聯展。任中學視藝科老師十八年,視教育為社會民主發展進程的一環。

 

藝術介入社會是基本信念。多年來,培育學生藉藝術批判社會,強調藝術與社區的關係。

 

近年更將城市空間意識介紹給學生,明白空間抗爭的重要。

 

 

Graduated from the University Of Hong Kong, Department of Fine Arts. He has been engaging in the creation of art for more than thirty years. Had solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. Taught Visual Arts in a secondary school for eighteen years. Believes that education is a part of the social democratic development. Using Art as a medium to intervene the society is his basic belief. For years, he has been emphasizing the relationships between Art and the community and teaching students to criticize the society through Art creation. In the recent years, he has been raising students' awareness of urban spaces and the importance of protests for urban space.

Various Community Art Projects

 

Community 可指「社區」或「社群」。

 

1984年,我搬到石澳居住,一開始,我把山坡上一塊巨大的石頭髹上繽紛顔色,全村都知道村裏來了一個藝術家。半年後,跟鄰居熟絡了,我經常替街坊畫招牌,在屋外畫壁畫等。不到半年,我的作品散佈村落,不自覺地,我開始了社區藝術創作。

 

之後,我被邀請參與傷健合作藝術創作,一做就是十多年,對像大多是自閉症,唐氏綜合症,聾啞和智障人士等,有時是普通公衆人士。

 

近年,我嘗試帶學生到社區蒐羅口述歷史,然後以藝術形式表達。又或跟非政府組織合作,讓學生參與運作過程,以藝術手法總結學習經驗。社區藝術成爲了教學手段。

 

 

Community means a certain group of people, or a particular area where we live.

 

In 1984, I moved to Shek O. After I painted a huge rock in the valley, people knew that there came an artist. After half a year, I was asked by neighbors to paint their billboards, or the outside walls of their houses. By then, I have unconsciously started doing community art. I

 

n the following years, I was invited to hold community art projects for both disabled and able people. Often, the participants are autistic, deaf, numb, mentally disturbed or people suffer from Down Syndrome and sometimes are people without disabilities.

 

Recently my students—with my guidance—collected oral history in the community and translated the information into art works. I also work with NGOs to allow students to express what they have learned and their learning experiences via art. This way, community art has become the means of education.
